Music of hope and transformation for all. An album of empowerment.

Help us produce a live concert and recording of music that inspires and empowers even the most vulnerable among us. Support Mary Ann Joyce-Walter (composer) & the Music Conservatory of Westchester (presenter) in producing this event.

After traveling to the Czech Republic with a group of students in --- and seeing the artwork and poetry of children imprisoned in the World War II concentration camp in Terezin, Czechoslovakia, Mary Ann Joyce-Walter knew she had to set some of these poems to music in order to share the transformative power of music, art and poetry.

Out of about 15,000 children sent to Terezin between 1942-1944, only about 100 and a suitcase filled with poems and artwork survived. Dedicated to all children who suffer and die too soon, this piece is a testament to hope and transformation for all. This powerfully moving piece was composed with the intent to evoke compassion and hope that acts of horror against the young and innocent throughout the world will never happen again.

Piano Faculty Svetlana Gorokhovic releases New CD

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Piano faculty member Svetlana Gorokhovic has just released a new recording, Tempo Trapezio, with cellist Misha Quint on the Blue Griffin label.  The CD features works by Krzysztof Penderecki, Thomas Fortmann, Richard Strauss and Franz Schubert.  New York Concert Review’s Anthony Aibel writes, “Misha Quint has recorded a wonderfully diverse array of works on his new CD, Tempo Trapezio. His pianist, Svetlana Gorokhovich, provides much more than accompaniment, as she interweaves her intermittent solo passages with subtlety and—when called for—real virtuosity. Together, they make an impressive pair.”
