Suzuki Fall Open Houses - Registration is Open!

Discover your child’s musical potential this fall! The Music Conservatory of Westchester invites prospective students ages 4 and up, and their families to explore and learn about the comprehensive Suzuki music training philosophy at upcoming Saturday Open Houses on September 15th and 22nd.

Voted Best of Westchester’s ‘Best Music School’ for two consecutive years (2017 and 2018), the Music Conservatory’s Suzuki Open Houses start at 9:30 AM with open parent education classes, include an open ‘play down’ with Suzuki students, and time for questions and answers.

The Music Conservatory of Westchester’s Suzuki program offers instruction in violin, cello or piano for students ages 4 and up, focusing on the philosophy that “Every Child Can” learn to play an instrument. Suzuki approach is based on an equal triangle of support and cooperation between the student, teacher, and parents. Our highly qualified Suzuki teachers train young musicians to become skilled instrumentalists, performers and ensemble players, while developing their motor skills and focusing ability.

Fall Open Houses at the Best Music School in Westchester!

Music Conservatory of Westchester, voted Best of Westchester’s ‘Best Music School’ for two consecutive years (2017 and 2018), invites prospective students and their families to attend and participate in its Open Houses introducing its updated roster of classes in September! Explore music classes that appeal to toddlers, children, teens, and adults – open for Registration now!

The Conservatory is grounded in time-honored musical values with innovative programming for today’s students, including our very youngest. A new elementary Guitar Program for students as young as age 4 imparts the musical foundations to pursue more advanced studies in classical, rock, Latin, or jazz guitar, and prepares them to join a variety of bands and ensembles.

On Saturdays and Sundays, a new sequential First Notes curriculum will start musical exploration at age 3 months. Parents will see their children engaged in fun learning activities, gaining new skills at each level. The curriculum will seamlessly progress to our Music Skills and Theory classes.

Starting in the upper elementary grades, the Conservatory prepares students for NYSSMA auditions, music competitions, performing in school ensembles and productions, and gearing up for college. For advanced high school students, the Conservatory offers an Honors Program with a pre-college curriculum. Graduation from the Honors Program is a highly-regarded component of students’ college applications, regardless of their future career plans.

The Music Conservatory has also developed unique programming just for Adults ages 18 through 80+. Adult music theory classes are offered in sections for absolute beginners through experienced students using a flexible learning approach. In addition to private lessons, group piano and guitar classes, piano partners, women’s vocal ensemble and chamber ensembles create a fun, social atmosphere for adult music students to learn and master their instruments.

As part of our inclusive musical community, the Conservatory provides numerous performance opportunities throughout the year for students of all ages. With more than 80 expertly qualified faculty of professional musicians with exceptional academic and performance credentials in their specialized instruments, the Music Conservatory of Westchester truly offers the ‘Best of Westchester’!

Join us for an Immersive Suzuki Open House!

On Saturday, June 2, the Conservatory will hold an immersive Open House for parents and their children to experience and understand the Suzuki philosophy of music education designed for young students ages 4 and up. The Open House will start at 9:30am with special musical performances from violin and cello Suzuki students on the front steps of the Conservatory, followed by open studio lessons at 11:00am, and a question and answer session at 1:00pm.

Students in the Conservatory’s Suzuki Program study music with the belief that “Every Child Can” encouraging every student’s innate musical talents at an early age. The Suzuki philosophy extends to all ages and abilities, and the Conservatory’s program welcomes students of violin, viola, cello, and piano.

Try the Suzuki Program during the regular school year or over the summer. This summer, the Conservatory is offering a Suzuki Beginner Special for introductory lessons for young beginner students starting at age 4 in sessions from August 6th-10th and/or August 13th-17th.

The Conservatory offers fun, musical experiences for kids grades K-9 over 4 different 2 week sessions with half or full day options starting June 25 through August 19. K-6 graders can try an instrument, create in Arts & Crafts, participate in Dance & Creative Movement, and young children can experiment with music in Music Skills and Buckets & Beats.

The comprehensive Suzuki Summer Program teaches the Suzuki method of learning an instrument for beginners at age 4 through students grades K-8. Students grades 1-6 can show their theatrical side and perform on our recital hall stage in Musical Theatre Immersion. In the Conservatory’s new summer program, students grades 5-9 can develop their piano abilities in the Summer Piano Festival!

Inside the Studio Week is Back!

Back by popular demand, Inside the Studio week will return for the second time at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. During the week of Sunday October 22nd - Saturday October 28th, parents can sit-in and observe their child's private lesson. Parents will also have a chance during the last five to ten minutes of the lesson to talk with the teacher and check-in on their child's progress.

The special week will also include a meet-up opportunity for Adult Students, a social for Conservatory Parents and an information session with Dean Doug Bish on, "“Everything You Want to Know About the NYSSSMA Solo & Ensemble Festival." Don't miss out on this fun and unique experience!

Music Conservatory of Westchester will hold four open houses for its Summer Music & Arts program on:

  • Saturday, Feb. 25, 10am-12pm
  • Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 6-8 pm
  • Saturday, March 18 from 10am – 12pm   --- CANCELED
  • Tuesday, March 28 from 6 - 8 pm
The program features a variety of offerings from songwriting to theatre to arts & crafts to dance. This year, the program will add several new components including Blues, Improvisation and Salsa as well as special weeklong workshops in Suzuki violin, cello or guitar and Hip-Hop Composition.

At the respective open house events, parents and their children can meet with staff, discuss their interests, and register before April 19 at an "early bird" rate. This fun program consists of four two-week sessions (parents can choose all or some) with half, full, and extended day options available. Music Conservatory to Hold Early Fall Open Houses

Music Conservatory of Westchester will hold open houses for its Fall Semester throughout August and September in their 216 Central Ave. location in White Plains. The dates are respectively Tuesday evenings (4-7 p.m.)  Aug. 23 and 30 and Sept. 6, 13, and 20. Open houses will also be held Saturday mornings (9-1 p.m.) on Sept. 10 and 17.

At the open house events, parents and their children can meet with staff, discuss their interests, and register for the fall semester, which runs from September through January.  In addition to private and group lessons, theory, and everything in between, the Conservatory has launched an all new Jazz, Pop and Rock program.
