Summer Music & Arts Program

 Friday, August 15, 2014

This summer the Conservatory was filled with the sounds of 125 kids ages 4 – 12 having fun with music, art, and theatre in the Summer Music & Arts program.  Each day was filled with instrument classes (strings, winds, piano, guitar), composing original music, singing, arts & crafts, and acting, giving kids a great learning and joyful summer experience.
All classes were taught by the Music Conservatory’s fabulous faculty, and all the counselors were enthusiastic Conservatory alumni heading to or already in college.  Small instrument classes (no more than 8 kids per teacher) ensured lots of individual attention, and the results were evident in the wonderful performances at the end of each of the three two-week sessions.  Parents proudly gathered to watch their children demonstrate their accomplishments, and each performance was recorded using the video system in the Conservatory’s beautiful Recital Hall.
All in all, it was a summer for kids to gain new skills, make new friends, and simply have a great time.  Everyone agrees they can’t wait for summer 2015!
