Musical Theatre workshop

This workshop gives students the tools to participate successfully in musical theatre productions. Students are taught the basics skills required to read and interpret both scripts and music. An assessment is given at the beginning and end of the class to track each student’s growth in this area. The workshop is team taught by theatre and voice faculty with ample feedback from peers. There will be a professional accompanist to support the workshop. There is an informal presentation at the end of the semester to demonstrate what each student has learned. Students take each workshop for two years. These classes can be taken alone or as part of our musical theatre package.

Youth (Ages 7-11)-Students are introduced to basic vocal skills (breathing, intonation, posture); use of the body on stage; memorization; and basic theatrical skills.

Teens (Ages 12-18)- Students study scenes from Broadway musicals, monologues and more advanced vocal technique (vocal placement, breath control and diction).
