Justin Stanley began clarinet studies in Fresno, California. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance and Music Education from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music from Yale University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance from the University of Michigan. His primary teachers have included David Shifrin, Daniel Gilbert, Richard Hawkins, and Fred Ormand. He has performed at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Chicago's Symphony Center, Cleveland's Severance Hall, and Detroit's Orchestra Hall. An active orchestral musician, he has appeared with orchestras including the Dearborn Symphony, Westshore Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Civic Orchestra, and the fellowship orchestra at the Aspen Music Festival and School. A dedicated teacher, Justin loves sharing his passion for music with others.

He taught undergraduate clarinet lessons at the University of Michigan and Yale University. In addition, he has taught clarinetists of all ages at the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. He currently serves as a Clarinet Instructor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Justin tailors his teaching to the needs of each student. He incorporates the teaching of fundamental concepts like tone quality, technique, articulation, and interpretation within each lesson. He often plays duets with students to encourage them to play chamber music. He believes that, "the learning process is very collaborative between the student and teacher. We work to find musical solutions for technical and interpretive challenges. I strive to help students discover their own musical voice. After all, music is incredibly expressive and personal - it comes from the heart."

"I am very happy and proud of Jun Luke Foster’s and Benjamin Boventer’s achievements. I taught
Jun Luke for 12 years and his acceptance to Juilliard School of Music is a great sign of his musical maturity and accomplishment. He was also accepted to Harvard and Yale. Benjamin was with me for five years. He won a prestigious $40,000 scholarship from Skidmore College for music studies. He was the only pianist in that competition who received this award. He was also accepted at Tufts University. It is very satisfying to know that our students continue to achieve such success."
