Harold Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois. After completing high school, he came to New York to audition for the Juilliard School and was awarded a full scholarship. He has served on the faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester for over 35 years. He also serves on the faculties of Manhattanville College, Manhattan School of Music, and the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College.

As a teacher, Mr. Jones nurtures students from the beginning stages through professional training. “When I listen to new students, I'll first make positive suggestions and compliment them on their accomplishments. I locate new approaches that will take each student to the next level. Then we begin to work seriously on tone production, flute technique, and interpretation - from rhythm to expression.”

As a performer and recitalist, Mr. Jones has appeared all over the United states and internationally. In New York, he has performed with the Bach Aria Orchestra, New York Symphonietta, New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, National Orchestral Association, Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Dance Theatre of Harlem, American Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the New World, and many chamber groups. He has played in numerous Broadway show orchestras and recorded the original cast albums.

Mr. Jones is the founder and Artistic Director of The Antara Ensemble which has been in existence since 1993. Has recorded the Vivaldi flute concerti for the Library of Recorded Masterpieces, and has five solo albums to his credit. In 2006, he was presented with an award from Howard University recognizing his many years of legendary artistic excellence in flute performance.

"I am very happy and proud of Jun Luke Foster’s and Benjamin Boventer’s achievements. I taught
Jun Luke for 12 years and his acceptance to Juilliard School of Music is a great sign of his musical maturity and accomplishment. He was also accepted to Harvard and Yale. Benjamin was with me for five years. He won a prestigious $40,000 scholarship from Skidmore College for music studies. He was the only pianist in that competition who received this award. He was also accepted at Tufts University. It is very satisfying to know that our students continue to achieve such success."
