Konstantza Chernov is an active soloist and chamber musician. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), where she was awarded a full tuition waiver and a stipend. While at UNCG, she served as a staff accompanist for instrumentalists' and vocalists' master and doctoral degree recitals, as well as a rehearsal pianist and vocal coach at the UNCG Opera Department. She earned both of her previous degrees (B.M. and M.A.) from Queens College of the City University of New York where she was a Presser Scholar. She was granted the Chamber Music Live Award (four times), The Rathaus Family Memorial Award, the Adele Lerner Prize in Chamber Music, and the Mark Kyrkostas Memorial award for piano performance, among others. A passionate and dedicated teacher, Dr. Chernov is currently an adjunct assistant professor at Queens College (CUNY), teaching piano for the B.A. program. She is also on the faculty of the Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at the Aaron Copland School of Music.
Dr. Chernov has previously served on the faculty of the United Nations International School, The University of Alabama, and The Piano School of New York City. Additionally, she was an adjudicator at the Young Artist Piano Competition and the Senior Piano Competition of the Georgia Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.
She is delighted to have rejoined the fine faculty and staff at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. In addition to being on the piano faculty here, Dr. Chernov is also the recital accompanist, providing harmonies and encouragement behind our young instrumentalists and singers. She also has served as an accompanist at the Mannes College of Music, Queens College, the 92nd Street Y, and the CPSM of the Aaron Copland School of Music.
