Angeline Brown was born in New York City and grew up in Yorktown Heights, New York. She began studying piano at the age of four, and went on to earn a B.A. with a concentration in classical piano from Binghamton University. During that time, she performed in numerous recitals, chamber ensembles, and won a concerto competition, appearing as a soloist with the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra. “

”I love playing classical piano, but I knew that Music Therapy was the career I was meant to pursue.” Angeline earned a masters degree in Music Therapy from Temple University in 1997.  She worked for several years with adult/geriatric psychiatric patients and then broadened her scope to include children with disabilities.  Angeline joined the Conservatory family in 2001 as a faculty member of the Music Therapy Institute. She works extensively through the outreach program in 10 different therapeutic pre-school, elementary, and high schools across the Westchester area.  Angeline primarily works with children with developmental, physical, and learning disabilities, as well as children on the autistic spectrum.  Angeline also enjoys her work with adults ranging in needs, both at the Conservatory, and in numerous outreach settings.

Angeline believes that “music is truly universal – it is a wonderful medium through which change and growth can happen. I encourage all of my clients to freely express themselves musically; I act as a musical guide as I address physical/cognitive/emotional goals. It is truly an amazing process to witness.”

Angeline is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and the Certification Board for Music Therapists. She has expanded her work to include performing, composing, and arranging for “Musical Munchkins”, a developmentally based music program for pre-school aged children.   Angeline is also actively involved in community theatre as music director for several theatre companies in the Westchester/Putnam areas.  She has been working as a music director in the theatre department at the Conservatory for the past 3 years.

"I am very happy and proud of Jun Luke Foster’s and Benjamin Boventer’s achievements. I taught
Jun Luke for 12 years and his acceptance to Juilliard School of Music is a great sign of his musical maturity and accomplishment. He was also accepted to Harvard and Yale. Benjamin was with me for five years. He won a prestigious $40,000 scholarship from Skidmore College for music studies. He was the only pianist in that competition who received this award. He was also accepted at Tufts University. It is very satisfying to know that our students continue to achieve such success."
