FROM GRAND CENTRAL STATION VIA METRO
NORTH: Take a Metro North, Harlem Line
train from Grand Central Station to White
Plains. White Plains can be an express
stop (about 30 minutes from Grand Central
Station). Complete train schedule information
can be found on www.mta.info.
When you arrive in White Plains – if
this is your first visit – take
a local White Plains taxi directly to
the Conservatory. It should cost less
than $10 and take about 5 minutes. The
Conservatory is walking distance from
the White Plains train station. If you
want to walk – stay
on the platform and walk north (the direction
of the train) until you get to a stairway
that leads to the Mott Street tunnel
under the tracks. At the bottom of the
stairs turn left and
walk out of the tunnel. You will follow
a park-like path to the right to
a commuter parking lot. Walk across the
parking lot toward the County Center
Building (a large, white, art deco looking
building) to the intersection of Tarrytown
Road (Route 119) and Central Avenue (Route
100). Cross the street at the light – you
will see City Limits Diner on the corner.
The Conservatory is on the right just
after the Diner. It has a purple awning
and wide front stairs. This walk should
take about 10 minutes.
